I think Steven Fales is brilliant in “Missionary Position.” He is honest in his exploration of the Mormon culture surrounding having 19 year old young men serve a mission and how poorly the Church prepares them for experiences like going through the temple for the first time. If you haven’t seen “Confessions of a Mormon Boy,” then it would be hard to understand how “Missionary Position” fits into The Mormon Boy Trilogy, however Missionary stands on its own without the need to have seen “Confessions of a Mormon Boy.”
